| In
1997, C & C Marine and Repair, L.L.C.
originally opened as a small three-acre facility on the Harvey
Canal, providing general fabrication services and specializing
in plant maintenance and repairs. Within our first few months
of operations, C & C Marine and Repair
fabricated numerous specialty items such as hoppers,
conveyors, and crane pedestals.
In the spring of 1998, the Company purchased its first two
dry docks for the sole purpose of rebuilding and reselling
them at a later date. In response to our dry dock acquisitions,
however, there was an overwhelming demand from existing customers
to provide barge repairs and marine fabrication. As a result,
C & C Marine not only kept those
two dry docks but also acquired or built four additional docks
for its own use over the course of the following five years.
Due to a widening customer base and the ever-evolving marketplace,
C & C Marine and Repair shifted
its focus from performing plant work to providing a full range
of marine and fabrication services including general fabrication,
barge fabrication, barge repairs, barge stacking, vessel conversions,
and sandblasting and painting.
In 2001, the Company relocated to its current 28-acre facility
with more than 100,000 square feet of covered shop area and
1,050 feet of bulkheaded water frontage. This new facility
enabled C & C Marine to expand
its operations to perform large fabrication projects for the
general marine industry. The new facility improved productivity
thus enabling us to better serve our customers and their increasing
demands.
C & C Marine and Repair continues
to gain new customers in the general marine business segment,
while maintaining its relationships with its initial customers.
